  • MVP를 만드는 데 잘 알려진 은유는 스케이트보드가 발전해 스쿠터, 바이크, 그리고 마침내 자동차가 되는 것이다. 이 생각은 고객이 자동차를 요구할 때, '왜'를 물어봐야 한다는 점이다. 대답이 'A에서 B로 가길 원하기 때문에'일 수 있으므로 우리는 이 문제를 최소의 노력으로 해결할 방법을 알아내야 하는데, 즉 스케이트보드를 만들고 팀과 고객 사이에 피드백 루프가 가능하게 해서 고객에게 스케이트보드가 적절하게 발전할 거란 걸 확신할 수 있게 해야 한다.
  • 팀, PO와 고객이 (어떤 이유에서건) 반복적인 개발이 가능한 지점에서 MVP를 만드는데 실패한다면, 결국 내다버릴 너무 많은 스케이트보드만 만들고 끝날 위험이 있다. 존재하는 스케이트보드를 제품의 다음 증분으로 개발할 수 없다면, 스쿠터나 바이크를 처음부터 만드는 건 너무 비용이 많이 든다.
  • 여기서 주의할 것은, 우리가 세트 기반 디자인이나 "내버리는 작업"이 사실상 긍정적이거나 장려되는 유사한 접근법을 말하는게 아니란 점이다.
